Coheed & Cambria Team Up With Rick Springfield For Jessie's Girl Sequel
Coheed have enlisted Rick Springfield to help with an update on his 1981 mega-hit
Remember Jessie's Girl? The 1981 hit by '80s dream boat Rick Springfield? Yeah, you've heard it, that shit was massive. But we can guarantee you've never pondered what happened next, and in the unlikely case that you have, you didn't divine a part two with a macabre twist. Unless...
Hello there, Coheed And Cambria.
Yep. During a writing session last year, Coheed frontman Claudio Sanchez began singing Rick's melody over a new bit he'd done, causing him to wonder, "What if a band created a sequel for a song that wasn’t originally theirs?"
"As a fan of movies, it just seemed like a really interesting idea,” he continues, explaining how the notion grew legs. Wondering whatever happened to the original song's characters, he started to tell a story of what happened next, which isn't a happy ending. “It’s kind of like a National Lampoon’s movie meets So I Married an Axe Murderer.”
And this isn't even the weird part of the story... Claudio pitched the idea to Rock on Instagram Live and sent him the tunes. Rick was so impressed that he wanted in.
And so, we have the sequel to Jessie's Girl, complete with video you definitely weren't expecting from the original. Check it out...
