blink-182 reunite with Tom DeLonge for world tour, announce new single Edging
Frontman Tom DeLonge is officially back – again – with blink-182, with the iconic pop-punk trio set to head out on the road for their biggest tour ever. Oh yeah, and new single Edging is dropping this Friday (October 14)!
The internet has been speculating for months, and now it’s actually official: Tom DeLonge is back with blink-182!
With Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba standing in superbly for the pop-punk legends for their two most recent albums – 2016’s California and 2019’s NINE – Tom has now rejoined Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker once more. Even better: the trio are set to head out on a massive global tour in 2023 and 2024, and they’ve even been in the studio together!
Of course, this isn’t the first time Tom has sent everyone into a frenzy by getting back with blink. The vocalist/guitarist was with the band for 1995 debut Cheshire Cat up until 2003’s Untitled album, before leaving in 2005 due to internal tension and to focus on Angels & Airwaves. blink regrouped in 2011 for their sixth LP Neighborhoods, with Tom then departing again in 2015.
In more recent years, Tom has been busy with AVA as well as directing a sci-fi movie and searching for UFOs (and quite possibly actually finding them) with his company To The Stars Academy of Arts & Science. Mark, meanwhile, beat cancer last year (something that helped mend the band’s relationship with Tom) and is writing a book all about it, while Travis married Kourtney Kardashian and has worked with just about every single musician in pop-punk and beyond.
Now, the Mark, Tom and Travis show is getting back on the road for their biggest headline tour ever – stopping off in the U.S. (with support from Turnstile), the UK and Europe, and Australia and New Zealand. They’ve also announced some huge festival shows, including next year’s When We Were Young alongside fellow scene titans Green Day.
If that’s not enough for you, blink-182 are dropping new single Edging this Friday, October 14 (those weird billboards and online ads suddenly make a lot more sense), so stay tuned for that.
