Bill Bailey to dance to Metallica on Strictly Come Dancing
Comedy’s metal connection Bill Bayley will be stepping out to Enter Sandman in Saturday’s semi-finals…
Everyone knows Bill Bailey loves metal. A few years back, he gave us his opinion on the songs from the previous 12 months. His enthusiasm when it came to discussing Behemoth – particularly when we told him their drummer’s name is Inferno – was notable. Guy’s even got the same haircut as the twins from legendary Swedish black metallers Nifelheim.
Naturally, the next step for a man of Bill’s standing, having already done Metallica’s Enter Sandman on parpy horns, is to dance to it during his turn in the semi-finals of Strictly Come Dancing. So, this Saturday at 7pm on BBC One, Claudia Winkleman will introduce Bill and his partner, reigning Strictly champ Oti Mabuse, the Strictly band will play the song, and the pair will do the tango.
Fuck knows what judge Craig Revel Horwood will make of it all, but some bookies are now tipping Bill to beat current golden boy HRVY to take the whole damned dancing match in a couple of weeks’ time. Here he is cutting some rug to Phantom Of The Opera this Saturday just gone...
On whether he thinks he can take the title, the man revealed that there's more than just glory riding on it...
“It is pressure,” said Bill. “We’re getting to the sharp-end now so everyone’s putting in great dances. The competition is really hotting up. There has been quite some betting going on. It’s mainly my friends. They keep texting me every week when we get through, saying, ‘Well done, Bill, keep going, we’re betting on you’. There will be a lot of people that I will be paying for Christmas if I make it all the way. I have a lot of pressure on my shoulders.”
