BABYMETAL announce limited-edition NFT trading cards
Just 1,000 packs of BABYMETAL’s crypto-cards will be up for grabs…
BABYMETAL have joined the NFT (non-fungible token) market, with a limited-edition run of trading cards.
For just 72 hours from May 6, fans will be able to pick up one of the 1,000 available packs, which will feature 10 designs based on Metal Resistance – the 10 chapters of the band that have unfolded over the past decade, and do the NFG stuff via WAX blockchain. Not only that, each pack will come with a special gold vinyl version of the band’s 10 BABYMETAL YEARS compilation album.

BABYMETAL are, of course, not the first band to get involved with NFTs. Slipknot’s Clown recently released one of him wearing his We Are Not Your Kind-era mask, while Mike Shinoda has auctioned off 10 digital animations. And last month, Grimes sold $5.8 million (£4.2 million) worth of NFT assets.
The band also recently announced that they’ll be streaming footage from this year’s 10-show run at Tokyo’s legendary Budokan on Saturday, June 26 at 9pm JST. Check out the trailer below, and get your tickets here.
Speaking to Kerrang! on the METAL GALAXY tour, MOAMETAL revealed of how she feels backstage before a show: "I’m always excited about going onstage, as I’m eager to know what kind of audience is waiting for us. When I hear the fans making noise while we’re backstage, impatient thoughts like, 'I want to see all of you as soon as I can!’ go through my mind.
"I sincerely hope that when people see BABYMETAL live,” she added, "that they return home happier.”
