Avenged Sevenfold Have "Been Working For A Long Time On New Material"
Avenged Sevenfold's Johnny Christ has given an update on the follow-up to 2016's The Stage.
It's been almost two years since M. Shadows told us that Avenged Sevenfold had moved onto their next era following 2016's The Stage, and work on album number eight is seemingly going strong.
Johnny Christ has now revealed that the Huntington Beach metallers have been "working for a long time on new material" – though he remains tight-lipped about the progress of this music, and how far along they are to having a complete record.

"We've been working for a long time on new material," the bassist tells Knotfest's Mosh Talks. "I can't verify how far in we are or anything like that. And it's not even me trying to be secretive or anything like that. There's so much going on in the world right now, for me to get people's hopes up and then something has to switch last minute, I would be very irresponsible if I gave any kind of information of where we are in the process."
When asked if A7X have at least one new track, Johnny teases, "There's stuff, there's stuff (laughs). I don't wanna divulge that, man; I can't. Again, I'm not trying to be cheeky or anything like that. There's too many moving parts in the world right now, and I don't wanna mess with anybody's hopes and dreams."
Earlier this year, Avenged re-released their 2008 DVD/CD package, Live In The LBC & Diamonds In The Rough, featuring an awesome gig at the Long Beach Arena, and rare tracks/B-sides such as Set Me Free, St. James, 4am, Lost It All and a cover of Black Sabbath’s Paranoid. Best keep playing that on repeat until a new studio album then, eh?
