Album Review: Slash Ft. Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators – Living The Dream Tour
Slash and co. get caught in the act on excellent Living The Dream Tour live album…
The understandable excitement surrounding Guns N’ Roses’ Not In This Lifetime… tour rather overshadowed the September 2018 release of Living The Dream, Slash’s fourth solo album, and his third set written in collaboration with Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators. This is a shame, for the record – which, like its 2014 predecessor, the excellent World On Fire, debuted in the UK Top 10 – was the most assured yet from the storied hard rock vets. The guitarist’s confidence in his new material was evidenced by the fact that no fewer than seven songs from the album featured in the subsequent tour set list, versus just one GN’R classic (Nightrain).
His faith is borne out in this classy multi-format document of the group’s February 20, 2019 stand at London’s Eventim Apollo, formerly the fabled Hammersmith Odeon, with the infectious Serves You Right and seductive, soaring Lost Inside The Girl among the highlights of a rapturously-received 22-song showcase. For those playing catch-up with Slash’s solo output, this serves as a fantastic, high-octane primer.
Verdict: 4/5
