AFI confirm they will release a new album in 2021

AFI are set to unveil some new material "very soon", with their full 11th studio album due out "before the year’s end".

California hardcore punk heroes AFI have announced that they will be releasing a new record in 2021.

The follow-up to 2017's excellent self-titled 10th studio effort – also known as The Blood Album – will be arriving at some point this year, with the band hinting that "very soon, new songs shall be yours".

"With the end of a year that has been, at best, challenging for all, we have news that we hope may bring you some joy," the group posted in a statement on January 1. "Very soon, new songs shall be yours. Before the year’s end, our 11th album will follow.

"We could not be more happy with our latest work and hope you will feel the same," AFI continue. "Thank you for joining us upon this next journey. We are thrilled to take it and honoured to have you at our side."

Speaking to Kerrang! last April, AFI's Jade Puget revealed: "We’ve been working on a new record. Davey [Havok, vocals] and I sat down for a long time putting together the song list for it, and it’s really exciting.

"I’m excited for people to hear it and see what the reaction is. It’s an eclectic record, and I’d much rather put something out there that’s a little bit left-of-centre rather than try to do something that’s expected."
