With Sum 41 looking to wrap things up as a band within the next year, frontman Deryck Whibley has somehow found the time to write a book in between planning global farewell shows.

The Canadian pop-punk hero has just announced details of his new memoir, which goes by the name Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven And Hell. It’s due out on October 8 via Gallery Books, and will also include “the untold story of Sum 41” as well as his own.

A synopsis on Simon & Schuster says that in his memoir the frontman “takes you backstage, into the recording booth, and through the highest highs and lowest lows of the band whose story is inextricably woven with his own.

“With his insightful, earnest, and genuine voice, Deryck gets real about fame, fortune, and the music industry. From winning at the MTV Video Music Awards, being nominated for a GRAMMY, his high-profile relationships and friendships, contending with invasive paparazzi, and suffering from health issues that brought him to the brink, Deryck offers a forthright and unforgettable memoir.”

Sum 41’s final album Heaven :x: Hell is due out on March 29 via Rise Records. Catch Sum 41 at Download, which takes place from June 14 – 16, 2024 at Donington Park. Get your tickets now.
